Ram in the Thicket 3-d Wooden Puzzle
3-d puzzle inspired by the “Ram in the Thicket” which was found during the famous excavation in Iraq led by Sir Leonard Woolley during the 1920–30's. Dubbed “Ram Caught in a Thicket” by Woolley in an allusion to the biblical tale of Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac, the figure more likely represents a goat standing up to nibble on the leaves of a tree, a common site in the region today. The statuette, originally topped by a tray, would have served as a support for a cup or bowl. This puzzle represents one of two nearly identical statuettes found in the Royal Tombs of Ur. The “Ram in the Thicket” is approximately 4,500 years old.
