Guanyin (观音）or Guanyin Bodhisattva (观世音菩萨) means "Perceiver of all Sounds," which refers to Guanyin's ability to hear all prayers and cries for help. She is the Buddhist bodhisattva of compassion and mercy, and is venerated for her capabilities of saving people by listening to their voices. This statue depicts her seated with the pure water vase（观音尊）containing the nectar of life, wisdom, and compassion. Respecting tradition, Guanyin should be placed on a clean surface above one's waist height, facing outward in the room.
