Lapis, carnelian and gold were the most popular elements in the jewelry of Mesopotamia, the region between the Tigres and Euphrates rivers. Mesopotamia is known as the “cradle of civilization” and the place of the legendary Garden of Eden.
Our earrings are based on an ornate headdress found with the body of Queen Puabi in the Royal Cemetery at Ur. The headdress is made up of 20 gold leaves, two strings of lapis and carnelian, and a large gold comb.
Materials: Pewter leaves with gold finish.
